August 29 in the calendar of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the anniversary of the martyrdom of President Rajaee and Prime Minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar at the hands of the terrorists.
In 1962, a representative from Qom seminary was supposed to go to Japan for Islamic propaganda. The lottery fell in the name of Martyr Mohammad-Javad Bahonar.
He left for Tehran to prepare for the trip and learn English language, which was considered the second language in Japan. But after a few months, there were developments that led to his stay in Tehran and fight against the oppressive regime of Shah instead of going to Japan.
Prime Minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar writes to one of his friends about canceling his trip to Japan:
"I could go on this trip, meet the Muslims of Japan and East Asia and give a speech to them.
For a while, I could walk on the beautiful beaches of Japan and enjoy the beautiful nature there.
But the demise of Grand Ayatollah Boroujerdi and the allegiance of scholars and authorities to Imam Khomeini on the one hand and the Pahlavi regime's atrocities on the other hand caused me change my mind and stay in Tehran.
I plan to live in Tehran; Since I feel that more participation in allied delegations and communication with Tehran's cultural centers, including the university, will prepare the ground for more worthwhile work.

August 29 is the National Day of Fight against Terrorism in Iran. On this day in 1981, the Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization (AKA: MKO, MEK, PMOI) exploded the office of the Prime Minister of Iran, and martyred President Rajai and Primer Bahonar and several other officials.
In the Islamic Republic of Iran, the week before the martyrdom anniversary is commemorated as 'Government Week' to honor the nation's significant political leaders.
On August 30, 1981, a deadly explosion occurred when a victim opened a briefcase filled with explosives brought by Masoud Keshmiri, an agent of the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MKO) terror group.
The attack happened in the afternoon at the Iranian Prime Minister's office on Pasteur Street during an extraordinary meeting attended by President Rajai, Prime Minister Bahonar, and various military and security officials.
